BATA CUP 2022 - Tournament Rules

BATA CUP 2022 - Tournament Rules & Regulations Standard Rules:

  • 6 overs for each side
  • Maximum of 2 overs per bowler
  • Only 2 bowlers get to bowl 2 overs
  • Maximum of 3 fielders on leg side
  • Hard tennis ball for men and soft tennis ball for women
  • Wicket Keeper is a Must
  • No runs allowed from the bat behind the wicket (Areas will be clearly marked)
  • 120 feet boundary from the center of the pitch
  • Last man batting is allowed but needs a runner
  • Men: Bowlers need to bowl regular cricket bowling. No throws or underarm bowling allowed
  • Women: Regular cricket bowling, throws or underarm bowling allowed
  • No LBW & No Leg bye runs
  • Byes and overthrows are allowed
  • Bouncers are NOT allowed. Balls bowled over the shoulder and full toss over the waist will be considered a no ball.
  • Free Hit rule applies ONLY to the front foot no ball
  • Team can have 9-10 players on the roster but only 6 players are allowed per game. Player roster should be provided to BATA team before the tournament. No changes will be allowed after.
  • A player can only play for one team in the tournament. Else the team will be disqualified.
  • Rules of the respective grounds will be explained before the start of the game. However, it is teams’ responsibility to be familiar with the tournament rules published.
  • Each team should maintain the score sheet properly. Any discrepancies or improper scoring may result in awarding the benefit of doubt to the opponent team.
  • Winning team is responsible to return the score sheet of the match to the main umpire.
  • It is important to start every game on time to complete within the schedule. Teams SHOULD report 45 minutes prior to their match at the registration booth. This is mandatory
  • Umpires can consult for any decisions on the field. However, BATA Cup Organizing Team can overrule any decision given. Organizing Team’s decision is FINAL.
  • Main umpire can consult the tournament committee to resolve any issues on the field.

Power Play

  • One over of power play in every inning (to be taken between overs 3 and 6)
  • During the power play, there can be only one fielder on off side or leg side
  • The bowling team decides when to take the power play and the batting team will decide which side will have only one fielder
  • Ex: If the batting team decides that leg side will have only one fielder during power play, it will be the corresponding leg side for the right hand and the left hand batsman.

Retire rule

  • Any number of batsmen can retire. But only one batsman will be allowed to play again after everyone else has batted.

Tie rule

  • In case of a tie -
  • Team that lost least number of wickets will win
  • If the wickets are equal, team that scored maximum runs at the end of the previous over wins
  • If that is equal, rule 1 will apply for the previous over
  • If everything stays equal despite applying the rule for 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st over, a toss will decide the winner.

Umpiring:

  • Each team should umpire for a game in Round1 (per the schedule once published). This is mandatory. Any team that fails to show for umpiring duty will be penalized 1 over in their batting in their game.

Ground:

  • It will be synthetic grass top ground and the conditions will be the same for all teams participating
