TANA felicitated Chairman of A.P. Legislative Council = Dr. A. Chakrapani

on Sept 25, 2010 at Swagath Indian Cuisine, Fremont, California<= /st1:place>.

Telugu Association of North America (TANA) hosted a di= nner banquet meeting in the honor of Chairman of A.P. Legislative Council Dr. A.= Chakrapani. During this event, TANA as well as Bay Ar= ea Telugu Association (BATA) executive members= and many NRIs attended the meeting to meet and gree= t Dr. A. Chakrapani.

To start the program, Mrs. Vijaya Aasuri = (Advisor of BATA) welcomed Mr. Jayaram Komati (President= of TANA), Mr. Prasad Thot= akura (President Elect of TANA) and Dr. A. Chakrapani (Chairman of A.P. Legislative Council) ont= o the stage. Prior to this, Kalyan Kattamuri (BATA’s committee member) entertained the attendees with mimicry and songs from "Telugodu" album of his own.

In his welcome speech = at this gathering, Mr. Jayaram Komati (President of TAN= A) stated that it is the Telugu community’s honor to have great leader o= f AP and India, Dr. A. Chakrapani, among us today. Jayaram stated that Dr. A. Chakr= apani has been striving hard in promoting Telugu as well as = Gandhian principles throughout the world. At this occasion, Jay= aram also officially invited Dr. Chakrapani to atten= d the upcoming TANA convention to be held in July 2011 in C= alifornia.

Jayaram along with entire = TANA executive committee and board of director f= rom all over the US were at the event and felicitated Dr. A. Chakrapani with a "shaluva" and recognition plaq= ue. It was coincident that entire TANA executive committee and board of directors = were in town today in preparations for upcoming TANA convention to be held in Ju= ly 2011 in California.

Speaking at this occasion, Mr. Prasad Thotakura (President Elect of TANA) also praised Dr. Chakrapani&= #8217;s support and continuous effort to promote Telugu not only in AP but also on other states in India = and outside the India.

Among the attendees, GVVSDS Prasad (Coordinator, Sarva Seva Sangh) also spoke about Dr. Chakrapani. Prasad mention= ed that Dr. Chakrapani has been a long time suppor= ter in promoting welfare of all using Gandhian Philoso= phy and components of Sarvodaya. Prasad thanked TAN= A and BATA for having him at this great occasion.

Dr. Chakrapani thanked all attendees and pleasantly surprised to see so many = Telugu people came to meet and greet him. He specially praised TANA for lea= ding the role of promoting Telugu language and culture in North America. Dr. Chakrapani felt the occasion as a home away from home like event. Also, he said that because of= Telugu NRI’s hard work, loyalty, reliability, an= d good name, Telugus are really at the top among the communities both in India a= nd US. Chakrapani praised all NRI for this. Chakrapani also suggested that TANA take up preserving the generations of Telugu literature for future.

At this occasion, several of BATA executive committee members also felicitated Dr. Chakrapani. Speaki= ng at this occasion, Srilu Veligeti (President of BATA) thanked Dr. Chakrapani for being with us and sharing his wisdom. =
